Claire Johnson, MSW, RSW, provides therapy for couples, families, children, adolescents and adults.  Claire provides an experience of acceptance and support from which clients can explore their unique paths to well being, self-efficacy and deep connection in relationships.

Claire’s approach to working with couples incorporates Emotionally Focused Therapy to address relationship distress.  With families who are in conflict and feeling disconnected she utilizes Emotionally Focused Family Therapy and Systemic Family Therapies.

With children, adolescents and adults, Claire’s experience includes addressing anxiety, depression, attention problems such as ADHD, parent-child conflict, separation and divorce concerns, grief, stress and trauma.  Claire uses a variety of approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Emotion Coaching, Play-Based Therapy, Mindfulness and EMDR.

Claire has facilitated therapy in various settings including schools, a women’s shelter, non-profit agencies and a hospital-based mental health outpatient service for children and adolescents.  As well, she has volunteered as a therapist at a walk-in counselling service.  Currently, Claire works for a large non-profit child and adolescent mental health organization as a family therapist.  She presented as part of a panel on family violence at an international conference in Berlin, Germany.
